Assistant Accountant

This role is primarily responsible for ensuring that transactional accounting and administration tasks are carried out accurately and promptly. You will be instrumental in assisting with month-end processes, preparing profit and loss account sheets, record keeping, project accounting, reporting, and providing support to the Management Accountant / Finance Manager and Business Support Team. What you'll do:

As an Assistant Accountant, you will play a crucial role in maintaining the financial health of the organisation. Your primary responsibility will be to ensure that all transactional accounting and administration tasks are carried out accurately and promptly. You will also assist in month-end processes, prepare profit and loss account sheets, maintain records meticulously, engage in project accounting activities, prepare monthly Balance Sheet Reconciliations for allocated accounts, assist in preparing Ad Hoc Financial Reports (KPI’s, Month End Results, Variance Analysis, etc), and provide assistance with preparation of Capital Expenditure reports. Your ability to work under strict time constraints while maintaining attention to detail will be key to your success in this role.

  • Ensure accurate and timely completion of transactional accounting and administration tasks
  • Assist in month-end processes including income, stock, fuel, external/internal costs, and other journals as required
  • Prepare profit and loss account sheets
  • Maintain records meticulously
  • Engage in project accounting activities
  • Prepare monthly Balance Sheet Reconciliations for allocated accounts
  • Assist in preparing Ad Hoc Financial Reports (KPI’s, Month End Results, Variance Analysis, etc)
  • Provide assistance with preparation of Capital Expenditure reports

What you bring:

The ideal candidate for the Assistant Accountant position will bring a wealth of knowledge and experience in finance and accounting. You should have a tertiary level qualification in Accounting or Business studies along with proven working knowledge of the general ledger. Your intermediate to advanced level skills in MS Office (including Microsoft Word and Excel) will be essential for this role. Exposure to all facets of finance and accounting along with high attention to detail and strong data entry skills will set you apart from others.
