Assistant Accountant

Our client is seeking a knowledgeable and dependable Assistant Accountant to join their team on a short-term hourly rate contract. This role is crucial in supporting the Finance Manager during a busy period leading up to the year-end process. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work in a complex organisation, offering interesting and varied work. With the flexibility of hybrid working, you can enjoy the balance of working from home for 1 to 2 days per week.

What you'll do:

As an Assistant Accountant, your role will be pivotal in supporting the finance team. You will manage accounts receivable, perform bank reconciliations, handle credit control tasks, and prepare GST returns. Your expertise in processing journals and reconciliations will be highly valued. Additionally, your proficiency in Excel will enable you to conduct some analysis. Your excellent communication skills will be utilised when liaising with creditors, following up with debtors, and performing credit control as required.

  • Manage Accounts Receivable
  • Perform bank reconciliations
  • Handle credit control tasks
  • Prepare GST returns
  • Process journals and reconciliations
  • Manage invoice processing
  • Conduct analysis using Excel
  • Communicate effectively with creditors and follow up with debtors


What you bring:

The ideal Assistant Accountant candidate brings 2 years experience in Accounts Receivable. Your strong Excel skills will be essential for this role and the ability to use pivot tables and support with analysis would be preferable.

  • Minimum of 2 years experience in Accounts Receivable
  • Strong Excel skills, with the ability to use pivot tables and support with analysis preferable
  • Experience with Microsoft Dynamics or integrated accounting systems
  • Proven experience in accounts receivable; additional accounts payable experience is desirable
  • Experience in reconciling Credit Cards
  • Ability to respond effectively to Creditors, follow up with Debtors, and perform Credit control if needed.
  • Ability to work independently and efficiently
  • Experience with NetSuite is preferable
