Accounts Assistant
Our client, a well-established organisation in Auckland, is seeking an individual to join their finance team. As an Accounts Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting the finance team by managing accounts payable, accounts receivable, and assisting with general accounting functions. You’ll be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, reconciling accounts, preparing reports, and contributing to the smooth operation of the department.
Key Responsibilities:
- Daily management of the accounts payable inbox.
- Accurate processing of invoices, credit notes, and expense claims.
- Monthly reconciliation of creditor statements and preparation of payment runs.
- Vendor and customer account setup and maintenance.
- Generation of month-end reports for accounts payable and receivable.
- Follow-up on outstanding debtors to ensure payments are made within 30 days.
- Allocation of cash received to customer accounts promptly.
- Assistance with balance sheet reconciliations and journal entries.
- Backup support for GST/FBT/NRWT tax filings.
- Ordering office supplies regularly.
- Supporting ad-hoc tasks as required.
What We’re Looking For: To excel in this role, you’ll need:
- A minimum of 2 years’ experience in accounts payable/receivable functions with basic accounting knowledge.
- Solid understanding of accounting practices and procedures.
- Strong numerical, analytical, and communication skills (written and verbal).
- Proficiency in ERP systems, Microsoft Excel, Outlook, and adaptability to new software.
- Exceptional attention to detail and organisational skills.
