Finance and Accounting Officer (Accountant)

Have you previously worked in a CA firm or in a similar role, looking after multiple entities? We have a rare opportunity to join an internationally recognised, but family run business in the heart of the CBD. If you have experience with GST, income tax, and preparing financial statements, we would love to hear from you!

The company!

A leading, international, yet family run trust and corporate services provider, working with a variety of private clients, intermediaries, business owners, and corporations.

The role!

This is an autonomous role, working alongside the Accounts Assistant, and reporting directly to the Managing Director. This is an end to end accounts role in which you’ll wear many hats, with responsibilities spanning from tax reporting and preparation of financial statements to management of company bank accounts.

This role could suit someone looking to juggle a career with commitments outside of work, or someone looking to reduce their hours but maintain a rewarding career. Alternatively, if you’re looking for a full time role, this could be considered.

  • Day-to-day accounts administration including Bank Reconciliation, maintenance of the accounts receivable ledger, preparation of all invoices, cash receipts, management of aged debtors
  • Maintenance of accounting records for New Zealand trust companies
  • Preparation of management and financial reports for managed trust companies, client trusts and Limited Partnerships
  • Preparation of annual financial statements for managed trust companies, private trust companies and applicable underlying companies
  • Assisting with and managing annual audits with external auditors
  • GST and other relevant tax returns and reporting
  • Preparation of Income Tax Returns for Managed Trust Companies
  • Payroll support
  • Management of Company Bank Accounts
  • Management of another Accounting team member

What we're looking for:

This role would suit someone with a CA firm background, looking to do something a bit different, or someone with experience of looking after multiple entities. Prior experience in all elements of the role is not necessary, as long as the willingness to learn and right attitude can be shown. You might be an Assistant or Intermediate Accountant looking to grow.

  • CA or CPA qualified, or working towards ideally, although equivalent experience will be considered
  • 3 – 5 years Accounting experience
  • Experience with trusts advantageous, or a willingness to learn
  • Team Player
  • Happy to wear a few hats
  • MYOB experience beneficial
