Commercial Finance Manager

Our client is seeking a Commercial Finance Manager to join their team in Auckland. This role is integral to the financial and commercial aspects of the business, understanding the commercial terms of trade relationships and supporting the business in the process of decision making. This position offers an opportunity to work within a diverse, international group of companies committed to delivering value to shareholders while investing in their market, brands, new product categories, and people. The Commercial Finance Manager will also be key to ensuring a sound control environment to address business risks, and business partner with key stakeholders to ensure the delivery of commercial deliverables. Our client is part of an international group of companies in FMCG that values its employees and invests in their future. They are committed to delivering value to shareholders while investing in their market, brands, new product categories, and people. The company operates within a highly regulated market place where compliance with a complex array of laws and regulations is core to their delivery with integrity in the marketplace.

What you'll do:

As a Commercial Finance Manager, you will be at the heart of our client's financial operations. You will also be responsible for;

  • Contributing financial and business expertise to make smart decisions and contribute towards the achievement of the company overall objectives;
  • Coordinating the preparation of the company plan, and assist business managers to identify opportunities to optimise costs and assets use within this process and on an ongoing basis;
  • Providing management with routine information, analysis and advice on ongoing performance against plans to enhance decision-making;
  • Ensuring the existence of a strong control environment within commercial finance by advising on compliance to policies and procedures, sharing best practices and ensure ongoing spot checks on control environment matters;
  • Coordinating all activities related to the provision of forecasts for all types of expenditures in the entity and the activity of calculating and reporting to local and area management of the performance in accordance with company guidelines;
  • Identifying, assessing and, where appropriate, implementing efficiency improvements;
  • Being fully involved with external audit as required for areas of responsibility;
  • Managing the delivery of financial information and scenarios, provide input and challenge validity of business cases for optimal outcome.
  • Ensuring business needs and relationships are fulfilled and enhanced through proactive involvement and interaction;
  • Providing insights & knowledge on country specifics and leads the team where appropriate

You will also ensure that Commercial Finance is fully integrated in all aspects of marketing activities, as well as facilitating relationships across different functions. You will utilise resources to drive results and effectively achieve company objectives, as well as building internal and external partnerships to support the delivery of core activities, whilst ensuring that strategic requirements are delivered.

What you bring:

The ideal candidate for the Commercial Finance Manager role brings a wealth of experience in finance management along with a proven understanding of marketing principles and strategy. You will also bring;

  • BCom and CA or CIMA with over 6 years experience
  • Proven experience in the FMCG industry
  • Proven understanding of marketing principles and strategy
  • Understanding of marketing and finance systems (BPS/SAP)
  • Experience in company planning process
  • Strong analytical, organisational, self-management skills with ability to contribute to change in dynamic environment
  • Excellent communication skills with strong people management abilities
