What you'll do:
As Finance Manager, you will take on a multifaceted role that encompasses hands-on delivery, leadership and commercial oversight. Your responsibilities will include:
- Lead and manage a finance team of five, providing clear direction and support.
- Collaborate with Operations, IT, and Commercial teams to align financial processes with business needs.
- Oversee monthly reporting, including group consolidation, variance analysis, statutory accounts, and tax returns.
- Manage financial performance reporting and provide insights to support strategic decisions.
- Supervise payroll, including commission and bonus calculations, ensuring accurate and timely payments.
- Partner with operational leaders to deliver financial insights and identify opportunities for improvement.
- Oversee month-end close, accounts payable, billing, and payroll to maintain accuracy and efficiency.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with banks, auditors, and regulatory bodies.
- Drive process and system improvements, fostering a culture of continuous improvement within the team.
- Ensure compliance with tax, legal, and reporting requirements, maintaining strong internal controls and governance.
What you bring:
- CA or CPA qualified (or equivalent) with strong knowledge of NZ accounting standards and best practices.
- 7+ year's experience in accounting or finance, including at least 2 years leading teams.
- Solid understanding of NZ financial reporting, tax compliance, controls, and audit requirements.
- Proven business partnering skills, providing actionable financial insights to drive performance.
- Experienced in leading, mentoring, and developing high-performing, accountable teams.
- Strategic thinker with a hands-on approach and the ability to balance operational and long-term priorities.
- Strong communicator with the ability to build trusted relationships across teams and with external stakeholders.
- Commercial mindset with a focus on process improvement and continuous learning.
- Adaptable, resilient, and reliable under pressure.
- High integrity and sound judgement, committed to transparency and ethical financial management.
