Finance Business Partner

This role is perfect for someone who thrives on building strong relationships across business lines, providing commercial advice, and delivering actionable insights that drive performance.
What you'll do:
As a Finance Business Partner based in Auckland, you will immerse yourself in a diverse range of activities designed to optimise financial performance across multiple business lines. Your day-to-day responsibilities will see you collaborating with various teams—credit controllers, bid leaders, delivery advisors—to ensure every aspect of financial management is handled with care and precision. You will be instrumental in shaping commercial strategies for bids, advising on project structures from inception through completion, and leading critical compliance activities such as tax reporting. By analysing monthly accounts and preparing forecasts in partnership with senior managers, you will help set realistic yet ambitious targets that align with organisational objectives. Your ability to build strong working relationships will be essential as you become the go-to person for finance-related queries while championing best practices across the board. Success in this role means not only delivering accurate analysis but also communicating insights effectively so that every stakeholder feels supported in achieving shared goals.
- Provide insightful financial analysis and solutions to managers across projects, clients, and market segments to enhance overall business performance.
- Collaborate closely with credit controllers to identify areas requiring attention in working capital management and proactively resolve issues with relevant stakeholders.
- Deliver commercial advice to bid leaders on strategic pricing, rate calculations, profitability assessments, and contract payment terms to maximise value creation.
- Advise on project setup including work breakdown structures and review cost-to-complete calculations as well as earned value metrics throughout project lifecycles.
- Work alongside delivery advisory teams to offer recommendations that improve financial outcomes for projects within the business line.
- Lead annual tax compliance processes related to project revenue calculations for income tax returns, ensuring accuracy and adherence to regulations.
- Act as the primary finance representative within the business line, coordinating with other corporate partners to deliver integrated advisory services.
- Analyse monthly management accounts for detailed variance analysis against plans and forecasts; highlight key insights at gross profit level to inform decision-making.
- Guide Section Managers, Operations Managers, and General Managers through annual financial planning and quarterly forecasting processes by providing constructive challenge and support.
- Assist with ad-hoc queries regarding project or business line financial matters while developing robust relationships with management teams.
