Accounting & Finance Manager
This role is perfect for someone who is passionate about making a tangible impact on New Zealand’s energy future, while enjoying the benefits of a supportive and collaborative workplace. As the business transitions from startup to market leader, you will play a pivotal part in shaping its financial maturity and strategic direction.
What You'll Do
- Take full responsibility for accounts payable and receivable processes, ensuring accuracy and timeliness in all transactions.
- Oversee payroll administration, bank reconciliations, and tax compliance activities to maintain robust financial controls.
- Prepare comprehensive financial statements, budgets, and forecasts that inform strategic decision-making across the organisation.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to analyse investment feasibility for solar and battery system proposals, providing clear insights into return on investment.
- Support board reporting requirements by delivering detailed financial analysis and contributing to strategic planning initiatives.
- Manage office logistics and internal policies to ensure smooth day-to-day operations within the finance function.
- Assist customers in understanding the financial viability of their energy solutions through effective communication and analytical support.
- Contribute to the ongoing development of internal processes as the business matures from startup phase to established market presence.
- Utilise digital tools such as Xero, Excel, CRMs, and financial modelling software to streamline workflows and enhance reporting capabilities.
Experience Required
- Hold a Chartered Accountant qualification or possess equivalent experience with at least three years’ proven track record in accounting or finance management roles.
- Demonstrate a solid understanding of capital investment principles and return on investment analysis; experience within the renewable energy sector is highly regarded but not essential.
- Exhibit proficiency in using digital tools including Xero accounting software, Microsoft Excel for advanced data analysis, customer relationship management systems (CRMs), and financial modelling applications.
- Showcase clear communication skills that enable you to explain complex financial concepts effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Display meticulous attention to detail when managing multiple streams of financial activity such as AP/AR, payroll processing, reconciliations, and compliance tasks.
- Bring experience in preparing budgets, forecasts, and board-level reports that support strategic decision-making within growing organisations.
- Demonstrate collaborative abilities by working closely with colleagues across different functions to deliver shared goals related to energy project feasibility studies.
- Possess adaptability to thrive in a busy environment where priorities may shift as the company evolves from startup phase towards greater market maturity.
- Exhibit commitment to continuous improvement by identifying opportunities for process optimisation within finance operations.
