Payroll Officer

What you’ll do
You’ll support the organisation by managing end-to-end payroll, ensuring staff are paid accurately and on time. This includes maintaining payroll records, onboarding new employees, responding to payroll queries, and working closely with internal teams and external providers to keep processes running smoothly. Attention to detail, strong organisation, and a service-focused approach are key to success in this role.
Key responsibilities:
- Process end-to-end payroll accurately and on time
- Import and validate time and attendance data
- Manage leave entitlements and compliance requirements
- Maintain payroll records and employee changes
- Respond to payroll queries and calculate final/special pays
- Support new starters and collaborate with internal teams
- Contribute to workplace health, safety, and well being
What you bring
You’ll have proven payroll experience in New Zealand and a solid understanding of local payroll legislation. You’re confident using payroll systems and Excel, highly detail-oriented, and known for your professional, empathetic communication style.
Key requirements:
- At least 3 year’s NZ payroll experience
- Strong knowledge of NZ payroll legislation (including the Holidays Act)
- Experience with payroll and time & attendance systems
- Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills
- Strong communication and customer service skills
- Confidence working with Excel
- Relevant qualification preferred but not essential
