Payroll Specialist

Are you an experienced payroll professional looking for a short-term opportunity to make an impact? We are seeking a Payroll Specialist to join the team on a temporary basis for 3-4 months. Bring your skills to a friendly work environment and contribute to the smooth operation of the payroll and data function.

About the Role:

As a key member of the People, Culture and Capability team, you will deliver high-quality payroll services, ensuring compliance with legislative requirements, and providing accurate HR data reporting. You’ll play a vital role in maintaining employee records, processing payrolls and supporting the team with reporting and administrative tasks.

Key Responsibilities:

  • End-to-end payroll processing for employees (fortnightly) approximately 600
  • Ensure compliance with employment agreements, Holidays Act 2003 and IRD requirements.
  • Maintain accurate employee records and ensure all changes are authorised and documented.
  • Provide timely responses to payroll queries while delivering exceptional customer service.
  • Generate monthly reports as required.
  • Assisting with remuneration-related projects such as annual salary reviews would be a bonus.

What We’re Looking For:

We’re seeking someone who can hit the ground running in this fast-paced role. The ideal candidate will have:

  • Proven experience in end-to-end payroll processing.
  • Strong knowledge of payroll legislation (Holidays Act 2003, Income Tax Act 2007).
  • Intermediate Excel skills with a willingness to learn other functions.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy in handling sensitive data.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise multiple tasks under tight deadlines.
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Experience using Datapay Enterprise or similar payroll systems (desirable).
