Our client is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Employment Relations Manager to join their team in Wellington. This role offers an exciting opportunity to utilise your expertise in employment relations within a supportive and inclusive environment. You will be instrumental in fostering positive relationships between employees and management, ensuring compliance with employment laws, and developing strategies to improve workplace culture.

What you'll do:

As the Employment Relations Manager, you will play a crucial role in managing and resolving complex employee relations issues. Your excellent problem-solving skills will be put to use as you conduct effective, thorough, and objective investigations. You will maintain an in-depth knowledge of legal requirements related to the day-to-day management of employees, reducing legal risks and ensuring regulatory compliance. Your interpersonal skills will shine as you provide day-to-day performance management guidance to line management. Working closely with both management and employees, you will strive to improve work relationships, build morale, increase productivity, and ensure retention.

  • Manage and resolve complex employee relations issues
  • Conduct effective, thorough and objective investigations
  • Maintain in-depth knowledge of legal requirements related to day-to-day management of employees
  • Provide day-to-day performance management guidance to line management
  • Work closely with management and employees to improve work relationships, build morale, and increase productivity and retention
  • Provide HR policy guidance and interpretation

The ideal candidate for the Employment Relations Manager position brings proven experience in a similar role. Your in-depth knowledge of labour law and HR best practices will be essential in this role. You have demonstrable experience with HR metrics and are able to architect strategy along with leadership skills. Your excellent active listening, negotiation, and presentation skills set you apart from others. Furthermore, your competence to build and effectively manage interpersonal relationships at all levels of the company will be highly valued.

  • Proven experience as an Employment Relations Manager or similar role
  • In-depth knowledge of labour law and HR best practices
  • Demonstrable experience with HR metrics
  • Ability to architect strategy along with leadership skills

  • Competence to build and effectively manage interpersonal relationships at all levels of the company
