Senior Product SME - Real-Time Visualisation & Insights

We’re looking for an experienced Senior Subject Matter Expert (SME) to support a major real‑time visualisation workstream within a large, complex transport operations environment. This role supports the development of real‑time dashboards, situational awareness tools, and critical operational insights used by national and regional control centres.

About the Role

You will act as the dedicated SME for the visualisation and situational awareness capability within a large real‑time monitoring solution. This involves guiding requirements, contributing to design and proofs of concept, and ensuring visualisation tools meet the needs of frontline operational teams.

You’ll work closely with technology squads, product owners, designers, and operational leaders to deliver dashboards and interfaces that support decision‑making, customer outcomes, and network performance.

Key Responsibilities

• Act as the primary SME for the real‑time visualisation workstream.
• Provide expert input into requirements, UX/design decisions, and product vision.
• Review and support proofs of concept, prototypes, and user workflows.
• Maintain a user‑centred, outcome‑based backlog for visualisation components.
• Partner with operational teams to ensure tools reflect real control‑room needs.
• Support readiness planning, including training content, documentation, and adoption.
• Identify operational and technology risks early and guide mitigation activities.
• Maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholder groups.

About You

You’ll be comfortable working in fast‑paced, high‑stakes operational environments where design and technology directly impact decision‑making.

You will have:

• 5+ years’ experience in product ownership, customer‑centred design, business analysis, or operational technology.
• Experience supporting real‑time visualisation, dashboards, or control‑room tools.
• Strong stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to influence at senior levels.
• Excellent organisational skills and comfort managing multiple workstreams.
• Exposure to transport operations, ITS, emergency services, aviation, utilities, or similar real‑time domains is highly advantageous.
• A relevant tertiary qualification (Business, UX, Project Management, or equivalent).
