Digital Infrastructure Technology Lead

Our client, the Port of Auckland, is seeking a Digital Infrastructure Technology Lead to spearhead the design, build and maintenance of various infrastructure platforms. This role is integral to ensuring the stability and integrity of the platforms that support the Port's application portfolio. The successful candidate will work at strategic, tactical and technical levels, defining strategies for technology needs, producing infrastructure technical designs, improving technical operations processes and developing Digital Infrastructure Strategy. This role offers an exciting opportunity to be the point of contact for business units, providing information and advice on how existing or future technology solutions can facilitate their needs.

As a Digital Infrastructure Technology Lead at Port of Auckland, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the digital landscape of one of New Zealand's busiest ports. You will lead the design, build and maintenance of various infrastructure platforms that underpin our application portfolio. Your responsibilities will span across strategic planning, tactical execution and hands-on technical work. You will be instrumental in assessing capacity needs, maintaining documentation, developing policies & procedures, planning system improvements, managing deployments and staying abreast with latest technologies. Your commitment to operational efficiency through automation, diligent asset management practices and continuous improvement in disaster recovery capabilities will be key to your success in this role.

  • Assess near and long-term capacity needs in collaboration with management and department leaders
  • Create and maintain documentation relating to configuration, processes, and service records
  • Develop, implement and maintain policies, procedures, and associated training plans for server and system administration
  • Plan and design improvements to existing and new infrastructure systems
  • Manage the deployment of data centre software, hardware components and equipment
  • Stay updated on all server and platform technologies, protocols and standards
  • Ensure efficient operation of applications and systems fulfilling business objectives
  • Automate manual tasks to improve operational efficiency
  • Practice asset management including maintenance of physical component inventory
  • Improve Disaster Recovery (DR) capability and incident management processes


What you bring:

The ideal candidate for the Digital Infrastructure Technology Lead role at Port of Auckland will bring a wealth of experience and a strong skill set. You will have a relevant diploma or degree in Information Technology/Information Systems or equivalent experience, coupled with at least 5 years of experience in a similar field. Your proficiency in software such as Nutanix, Azure Cloud, VMWare, Active Directory, MS Server, Networking, Dell Storage will be crucial to your success in this role. Your proven experience in infrastructure capacity planning, current Windows / Linux server technologies, policy development and SQL Database architecture design will set you apart. Exceptional problem-solving skills and a deep understanding of best practices within infrastructure design and data security are also essential.

  • Relevant Diploma or Degree in Information Technology/Information Systems or equivalent experience
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in a relevant field
  • Experience using software such as: Nutanix, Azure Cloud, VMWare, Active Directory, MS Server, Networking, Dell Storage
  • Proven infrastructure capacity planning experience
  • Working technical knowledge of current Windows / Linux server and platform technologies
  • Experience developing, implementing and maintaining policies, procedures and training documentation
  • Proven SQL Database architecture design skills for corporate systems
  • Exceptional problem solving skills
  • Best practices within infrastructure design and data security
  • Proven expertise in designing, building, and configuring Azure components
