Digital Infrastructure Services & Platforms Manager

A leading NZ Client, well established in Northland, Whangarei, is seeking a Digital Infrastructure Services & Platforms Manager to join the team and play a pivotal role in shaping the future of the digital infrastructure.
About the Role:
As the Digital Infrastructure Services & Platforms Manager, you will be responsible for the overall design, management, and evolution of the digital infrastructure. This role combines managerial acumen with technical expertise and architectural knowledge to ensure the delivery of all platforms and services. You will lead a team of systems engineers, manage relationships with managed service providers and external contractors, and drive the long-term infrastructure strategy for the organisation.
This is a hands-on leadership role where you will work closely with engineers to maintain operational excellence while contributing to strategic planning and execution. You will also act as a key escalation point for P1 incident management and disaster recovery efforts.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Leadership
- Develop and execute the infrastructure roadmap aligned with business objectives
- Lead initiatives to identify and implement modern, scalable infrastructure platforms
- Evaluate emerging technologies and recommend solutions for enhanced efficiency, security, and performance
- Manage an infrastructure project portfolio from conception to completion
Technical Operations
- Oversee the entire digital infrastructure landscape across all environments
- Ensure ongoing delivery of all platforms and services to agreed standards
- Champion best practices in disaster recovery and business continuity planning
- Act as the key escalation point for P1 incident management (on-call requirements)
- Support information security during cyber incidents
Vendor & Team Management
- Manage relationships and performance of third-party managed service providers
- Lead and develop a team of systems engineers and external contractors
- Optimise digital run costs and identify service improvement opportunities
- Ensure SLAs are met, and maximum value is delivered
Commercial Accountability
- Manage budgets (opex and capex) within the infrastructure domain
- Report on team performance and service delivery metrics
- Work with senior leadership to ensure effective contract management
About You:
Essential Experience & Qualifications
- Minimum 10 years in digital infrastructure management
- At least 5 years in a leadership or managerial role
- Proven experience designing, building, and managing complex infrastructure platforms
- Strong expertise in cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, or GCP) and infrastructure as code
- Significant experience managing external managed service providers
- Commercial management and budget delivery experience
- Deep knowledge of network architecture, security principles, and enterprise system administration
- Strong understanding of ITIL and service delivery frameworks
- Experience with containerization, virtualisation, and automation tools
