Senior Automation Tester

We are partnering with a well-known organisation in the financial services sector that is currently seeking an experienced Automation Test Engineer to join an Agile delivery team working across modern, cloud-based platforms. This role sits within a high-performing technology environment focused on delivering reliable, secure, and scalable digital solutions.

What you’ll be doing

  Partner with an Agile delivery team to analyse business processes, user requirements, and system workflows to help define technical and testing requirements.

  Design, develop, and execute automated testing solutions to ensure software quality meets agreed specifications.

  
  


• 
  

  Perform end-to-end functional testing across complex systems and integrations.

  
  


• 
  

  Troubleshoot and diagnose production incidents, identifying root causes and implementing fixes where required.

  
  


• 
  

  Support ongoing platform health by utilising monitoring tools and analysing system performance.

  
  


• 
  

  Create and maintain support documentation to assist operational and support teams.

  
  


• 
  

  Contribute to continuous improvement across automation frameworks, testing practices, and delivery processes.

  
  

What we’re looking for

• 
  

  Strong Java experience, ideally with exposure to Spring Boot environments.

  
  


• 
  

  Advanced experience reading and debugging code to support white box testing practices.

  
  


• 
  

  Demonstrated experience building and maintaining automation frameworks with tools such as Cucumber, Selenium, REST Assured, or Playwright.

  
  


• 
  

  Extensive hands-on experience performing end-to-end functional testing within complex systems.

  
  


• 
  

  Experience using monitoring and observability tools such as Splunk or Dynatrace to assess system health.

  
  


• 
  

  Understanding of security principles, including authentication flows, certificates, tokens, and access management.

  
  

Nice to have

• 
  

  Exposure to PingFederate or Open Banking authentication flows.

  
  


• 
  

  Previous experience within banking or fintech environments.

  
  


• 
  

  Experience working with CI/CD pipelines such as Jenkins.

  Familiarity with Git-based source control workflows.

  
  


• 
  

  Exposure to cloud or containerised environments, including AWS or Kubernetes.
