What you'll do:

As an Intermediate Solicitor within the Insurance Litigation team, you will play a pivotal role in supporting clients through challenging disputes while working collaboratively with experienced colleagues. Your day-to-day responsibilities will involve advising clients on complex insurance matters, preparing detailed legal documentation, attending court proceedings, and participating in strategic discussions that shape case outcomes. You will have the chance to develop meaningful client relationships built on trust and understanding while honing your advocacy skills in both written and oral forms. Success in this position comes from your ability to balance technical legal work with compassionate client care—ensuring each individual receives attentive service throughout their engagement with the firm. The role also provides ample opportunity for professional growth through exposure to varied cases and continuous learning initiatives.

What you bring:

  • Hold between 2 to 6 years post-qualification experience (PQE) in litigation within a reputable New Zealand law firm or similar environment.
  • Possess demonstrable experience handling insurance-related disputes or show a keen interest in developing expertise within this area of law.
  • Display excellent analytical abilities that enable you to interpret complex information quickly and provide clear recommendations.
  • Exhibit outstanding written communication skills for drafting persuasive legal documents tailored to different audiences.
  • Show strong verbal communication skills when representing clients at hearings or negotiating settlements outside court.
  • Hold a current New Zealand legal practising certificate or eligibility for immediate admission if returning from overseas practice.
  • Demonstrate empathy and sensitivity when dealing with clients facing stressful situations related to insurance claims or disputes.
  • Work effectively as part of a collaborative team by sharing knowledge generously and supporting colleagues’ success as well as your own.
