This is an exciting time to be an employment lawyer. The Black Law Door team advises both employers and employees on a broad range of matters, including performance and disciplinary issues, leave and pay, change processes, personal grievances, dispute resolution, independent workplace investigations, and cultural reviews. You will have the opportunity to provide legal representation for clients at mediation, the Employment Relations Authority, or Employment Court. No two days are the same, and you’ll be exposed to a wide variety of meaningful work.
This is a firm that will set strong foundations for your employment law career. They provide excellent mentoring and support, and there is genuine opportunity to grow as an employment lawyer in a team that values collaboration, continuous learning, and doing things the right way.
What you will bring | Ngā pūmanawatanga ōu
Your technical legal knowledge and commitment to outstanding client service will be a given, in addition you will:
- Have 1-2 years of post-admission experience (we are open to applicants that are more senior too)
- Have either private practice experience (in employment or any area of law with a genuine desire to move into employment) OR employment law experience acquired in-house
- Be an all-round good human being with a sense of humour, wishing to make an impact in the law, the community and further a field
- Be a motivated individual who is solutions focused and thrives collaborating with people both within the firm and externally
- Be a qualified lawyer with a NZ practising certificate or eligibility to obtain one reasonably quickly
