Our client is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Junior Legal Counsel to join their team. This entry-level legal position offers the opportunity to support the daily operations of a dynamic legal department within a leading sporting organisation. The role requires a foundational understanding of legal principles and practices, with an emphasis on applying this knowledge in a business context. The successful candidate will assist in various legal matters, ensuring that the organisation's activities comply with legal standards and helping to mitigate legal risks.

As a Junior Legal Counsel, you will play a vital role within the legal department. Your primary focus will be drafting, reviewing, and negotiating various types of commercial agreements. You will establish and maintain effective contracting processes, ensuring that all legal documents are accurately prepared and archived. Additionally, you will provide assistance in corporate initiatives and work closely to support the commercial senior legal counsel. A significant part of your role involves staying updated on legal regulations, ensuring the organisation’s compliance. You will also support the legal counsel in liaising with different departments, managing external legal relationships, and participating in proposal governance.

  • Drafting, reviewing, and negotiating various types of commercial agreements

The ideal candidate for the Junior Legal Counsel position holds a tertiary degree in Law and has completed their legal professional studies. They could be a graduate up to two years post-qualification experience (PQE). They possess a strong understanding of commercial law principles and have excellent negotiation skills for handling commercial agreements. Their ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines effectively sets them apart. Furthermore, they have strong interpersonal skills which they utilise when liaising with different departments.
