Senior Solicitors
We are working a public sector client who is seeking highly skilled and experienced Senior Commercial Solicitors to join their dynamic team. This role offers an exciting opportunity to provide legal advice, draft and review funding agreements, contracts, and tender documents. You will be instrumental in ensuring compliance with government procurement rules and principles of law. Your ability to build and maintain relationships with clients, external legal providers, and other government departments will be crucial to your success in this role.
Key Responsibilities:
- Drafting and reviewing funding agreements, contracts reflecting other commercial arrangements and tender documents.
- Advising on whether contractual and funding proposals are compliant with government procurement rules and rule of law principles.
- Building and maintaining relationships with clients, Crown Law Office, external legal providers and other government department.
- Providing legal advice that identifies and provides options for managing legal risk.
- Acting as instructing solicitor in litigation involving the public organisation.
- Contributing to the maintenance of accurate and up-to-date internal information management systems.
- Providing legal advice to senior managers within the public organisation.
- Leading projects which include team members throughout the public organisation as required.
- Assisting managers with identifying mentoring, training, and development needs for the team.
What you bring:
- 5+PQE
- Relevant tertiary qualification in Law and a current Practising Certificate.
- Demonstrated successful experience in all key competencies including knowledge of legislation administered by the public organisation.
- Strong track record of achievement of results.
- Understanding of the machinery of government, the Crown’s obligation to Māori, and the role and work of the public organisation.
- Working effectively with government agencies.
- Experience of drafting contracts and advising on contractual terms as an in-house lawyer in a government department or corporate legal team.
