An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Junior Legal Counsel to join a highly respected organisation based in Auckland. What you'll do:

You’ll provide smart, practical legal advice that helps us deliver on our purpose while keeping things compliant and risk aware. Your work will be varied, meaningful, and full of impact. You’ll review, draft and negotiate a wide range of commercial contracts and help manage them through their lifecycle.

  • Provide timely and accurate legal advice on all contracts, terms, and conditions to ensure effective agreements are established with suppliers.
  • Support compliance with government rules of sourcing and procurement by collaborating with both the General Counsel and Procurement Manager.
  • Help manage contracts throughout the organisation, proactively identifying potential undocumented obligations and mitigating associated risks.
  • Contribute legal expertise during Request for Proposal (RFP) processes by reviewing agreements and key contractual terms.
  • Deliver general in-house corporate legal advice on a wide range of issues affecting the organisation’s operations, including regulatory compliance.

What you bring:

  • LLB qualification coupled with admission as a Barrister and Solicitor of the High Court of New Zealand is required.
  • 2-4 PQE in a commercial legal environment.
  • Strong knowledge of NZ Contract and Consumer Law.
  • Excellent communication skills – written, verbal and professional.
  • Sharp analytical thinking and a clear approach to risk and compliance.
