Solicitor - Litigation

We are working with one of New Zealand's largest and most experienced specialist public litigation firms. This firm strives to provide excellent legal services in a cost-effective way for their clients. This firm is the primary provider of legal support to government departments, agencies and organisations. They act in major civil and commercial litigation disputes for both public and private sector clients, advising on human rights and bill of rights cases, advising and acting on matters of environmental and climate change law as well as issues and claims as they pertain to The Treaty of Waitangi.

Key responsibilities:

• Varies depending what work you are most interested in. This role affords the successful candidate to work beneath a range of partners specialising in:
• Resource Management;
• Public and regulatory;
• Public litigation.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of legislation, case law and industry trends;
• Drafting relevant court documents for court and judicial review procedures.

To be successful in this role you should have:

• Strong knowledge of court processes and laws;
• Strong academic transcript although all applications will be assessed on merit;
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal;
• Commitment to maintaining high ethical standards and confidentiality;
• Ability to handle multiple cases simultaneously while maintaining attention to detail;
• Strong research skills with the ability to analyse complex legal information;
• 1 + PQE however all applications will be assessed on merit.

This role is open to backgrounds of those who were judges clerks, have experience in the court, or in public regulatory teams.
