Our public sector client is seeking a lawyer to join their family law and litigation team with options to be based in Hawke’s Bay, Palmerston North, or the South Island. This role offers the chance to provide legal advice on a breadth of matters at varying levels of complexity. This will be a great next step for a lawyers who want to develop their skills in Court.

Mō tēnei tūranga | About this role

You will be responsible for providing advice internally and externally. This will suit lawyers who are purpose driven and who have an empathetic approach to their work. You will get time in Court as well as exposure to all aspects of the litigation process.

Your work will include identifying legal risks and issues, providing specialised dispute resolutions and negotiations, and be responsible and accountable for the conduct of proceedings across various Courts including but not limited to the District Court, Family Court, and other Tribunals.

Mōhou ake | About you

  • 1-7 years’ post admission experience
  • Family law and/or litigation experience will be considered
  • Cultural competency is essential – you must be able to demonstrate a commitment to and respect of Te Tiriti
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Current practising certificate or eligibility to hold one

Flexible working options including remote or part-time will be considered for the right person. There may be some travel required so a current driver’s licence is important.
