Associate/Senior Associate - Trusts and Estates

The role in the Trusts and Estate Planning team will see you providing professional and informed legal advice to Schnauer and Co’s clients while building meaningful and trusted relationships. You will demonstrate a mentoring and leadership role within the firm and train other staff where appropriate, while continuing your own professional development. You will be expected to actively contribute to SCO’s business development and where reasonably possible, engage in networking to build client relationships and grow the client base. For the right candidate this role could progress into Partnership.

Key Responsibilities:

Developing and fostering quality relationships with existing and potential SCO clients to provide competent and timely legal advice, including but not limited to:

• All aspects of general estate planning, including the formation of trusts;
• Restructuring and Re-settlements of trusts and trust assets;
• Advising on and drafting Enduring Powers of Attorney, Memorandum of Wishes, Wills and other estate planning legal documentation;
• Financing/Refinancing work (commercial and residential) relating to Trust assets, including LINZ searching and registrations;
• All other associated and incidental aspects of trusts and estate planning;
• Building quality relationships with third parties is encouraged for both business and professional development. The role will see you participating in and supporting the firm with marketing, networking and client development opportunities;
• Where appropriate, you will be expected to mentor others and share your knowledge for the development of others within the firm.
