Senior Property Lawyer - Commercial Property

What you'll do: * Facilitate commercial real estate transactions, encompassing sales, purchases, leases, and financing agreements * Conduct comprehensive due diligence investigations to identify potential legal issues or risks associated with commercial properties; * Draft and negotiate contracts, including sale and purchase agreements, lease agreements, and financing agreements; * Review property titles and land records to ensure clear title and identify any encumbrances or defects; * Provide counsel to clients on zoning regulations, land use restrictions, and obtaining necessary permits and consents for development projects; * Evaluate environmental risks and compliance issues associated with commercial properties, including contamination and remediation; * Provide ongoing legal advice to property owners and managers, including lease negotiations, rent reviews, and resolving tenant disputes; * Represent clients in disputes related to commercial real estate, including landlord-tenant disputes, property damage claims, and enforcement of lease agreements;

About you:

  • Possession of a Bachelor of Laws (LLB);
  • Admission to the New Zealand Law Society as a Barrister and Solicitor;
  • Specialisation or experience in commercial property law;
  • At least 8 years PQE, although all candidates will be considered on merit;
  • A strong academic transcript;
  • Exceptional negotiation, drafting, and communication skills;
  • Attention to detail and ability to conduct thorough legal research;
  • Strong teamwork skills and the ability to collaborate with other members of your team as well as external stakeholders.
