Consultant - Part Time / Flexible Hours
A legal services organisation in Auckland is seeking a Part-Time / Flexible Consultant to act as a Director, and the Trust Account Supervisor (around 24 hours a week). This position offers you the opportunity to participate actively at board level and oversee trust account operations while ensuring compliance with key workplace policies. If you are a detail oriented professional with a background in property law, commercial transactions, and conveyancing, this flexible, part-time role provides you with the opportunity to share your expertise and contribute meaningfully to the organisation. What you'll do:
- Administer all trust accounting functions for the New Zealand office, including maintenance of trust account records and preparation of required reports and certifications.
- Ensure ongoing compliance with all trust account rules and regulations by staying informed about regulatory changes and providing training or guidance to relevant staff members.
- Attend quarterly board meetings as a Director, participating fully in discussions and contributing to organisational governance.
- Act as the designated person responsible for workplace policies relating to bullying, discrimination, harassment (including racial and sexual harassment), and violence, ensuring adherence to legislative requirements and organisational standards.
- Provide ad-hoc advice and consultation on New Zealand property law and conveyancing matters, supporting colleagues with your specialist knowledge.
- Deliver training or guidance on regulatory updates affecting trust accounts or workplace conduct policies to ensure ongoing compliance across the organisation.
What you bring:
- Experience in property law, commercial transactions, and conveyancing within New Zealand.
- Hold current qualifications related to trust account management.
- A strong understanding of trust accounting regulations and proven compliance experience.
- Completion of the Stepping Up programme is required to ensure readiness for trust account supervision responsibilities.
- Familiarity with workplace conduct legislation including anti-bullying, anti-discrimination, anti-harassment and anti-violence policies.
