Account Director
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Account Director Public Relations to join a highly respected communications agency based in Auckland. What you'll do:
As an Account Director Public Relations based in Auckland, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the success of both your clients’ campaigns and your internal teams.
You’ll be responsible for ensuring that every project runs smoothly from start to finish: this means not only meeting deadlines and budgets but also exceeding expectations through thoughtful communication and attention to detail.
By leveraging your expertise in public relations strategy and relationship management, you will help deliver outstanding results that strengthen client trust and drive business growth.
Your ability to spot new opportunities for collaboration or cross-selling will further enhance the agency’s reputation as a trusted partner in communications excellence.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for clients on day-to-day matters related to their public relations projects or portfolios, ensuring all needs are met promptly and professionally.
- Take full ownership of individual client projects, overseeing every stage from planning through execution while maintaining high standards of quality and client satisfaction.
- Manage client expectations by coordinating ongoing PR activities in line with agreed service levels, budgets, and timelines, always keeping communication clear and transparent.
- Proactively identify potential issues within projects or campaigns, taking steps to resolve them efficiently while keeping relevant stakeholders informed throughout the process.
What you bring:
To excel as an Account Director Public Relations in this Auckland-based agency setting, you will bring proven experience managing multifaceted client accounts within fast-moving communications environments.
Your background may include time spent at leading PR consultancies or in-house teams where you honed your craft across media relations, campaign planning, event coordination, sponsorship activation, digital content creation, and more.
- A degree or equivalent experience in public relations consultancy, in-house communications, journalism or a related field provides a strong foundation for this role.
- At least two years’ experience in client service within communications or PR demonstrates your ability to manage complex relationships effectively.
- Proficiency in core PR technical skills such as writing for various media channels, developing comprehensive plans and recommendations, event management, sponsorships, marketing communications (including direct marketing, promotions, advertising, web/interactive), story creation for news media, media contacts management, and strategic thinking is essential.
