Are you an experienced advisor with a strong understanding of government processes, exceptional communication skills, and the ability to build trusted relationships?

We are recruiting for a range of advisory positions to support Ministers and Senior Leaders in delivering their priorities and providing high-quality advice.

This is a unique opportunity to work at the intersection of policy, strategy, and governance, where your expertise will play a critical role in ensuring effective communication between various stakeholders.

About the Roles

As part of these roles, you will act as a trusted advisor and liaison between Leaders’ offices and their Ministry or Agency. You will provide sound policy advice, facilitate communications, and ensure the smooth flow of information to support decision-making and implementation.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Advising Leaders on portfolio-related matters by providing clear, accurate, and timely policy insights.
  • Managing correspondence, Official Information Act requests, parliamentary questions, briefings, and other workflows between offices and relevant stakeholders.
  • Supporting engagement with stakeholders by preparing briefing materials for meetings, events, and other engagements.
  • Building strong relationships across government agencies, other offices, Crown entities, and external stakeholders to foster collaboration and goodwill.
  • Identifying risks and developing mitigation strategies to ensure a “no surprises” approach.
  • Contributing to strategic planning processes that align with priorities and strategies while balancing the needs of senior leaders and relevant agencies.

What We’re Looking For

  • At least 5 years’ experience working within government or related sectors.
  • Strong knowledge of the machinery of government, parliamentary processes, public service protocols, and legislative frameworks.
  • Proven ability to provide high-quality advice on complex issues in fast-paced environments.
  • Exceptional relationship management skills with the ability to influence diverse stakeholders effectively.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with attention to detail.
  • The ability to prioritise tasks, manage competing demands under pressure, and deliver results within tight time frames.

Why This Role?

These positions offer exciting opportunities for advisors who thrive in dynamic environments where they can make meaningful contributions. You’ll be part of a team that values collaboration, excellence, and innovation while supporting Leaders in achieving outcomes that matter.

Additional Information

These roles require flexibility due to their dynamic environment. You may need to work outside regular hours or travel as required. Successful candidates may be required to obtain and maintain a Confidential National Security Clearance as well as complete additional background checks.
