We advise on the settings of the Emissions Trading Scheme relating to forestry to maximise the benefits of forestry in NZ's policy response to climate change, and support NZ's adaptation strategies to ensure a sustainable primary sector & rural communities.
We are seeking talented Senior Policy Analysts to join our team to help advise the Government on paving the path for our climate future. We are looking for enthusiastic people who are keen to apply their skills and knowledge to tackle some hard policy issues. These roles will involve working across MPI and government agencies to support the development of the National Adaptation Plan.
You will bring strong written and critical thinking skills and be able to work at pace and in a fast-changing environment. Experience and interest in climate change legislation, climate/environmental science, forestry, agriculture, and the wider environmental, economic, social and cultural context in which the primary sector operates would help you succeed in this role.
The location for these roles is Wellington. If you enjoy tackling issues, researching, developing proposals and providing advice you will be a great fit with this team.

• Ability to provide clear, accurate, well-reasoned policy advice that is targeted to the audience
• Strong written and oral communication skills
• Ability to take ownership and action on challenges
• A background or understanding of the Treaty of Waitangi and te ao Māori
• Strong interpersonal skills and the desire to make a positive contribution to the team
