Senior Policy Analyst - 6 Month Fixed Term

Our client is looking for an experienced Senior Policy Analyst to provide high-quality analysis and advice on complex social policy issues. This role offers the chance to represent the Ministry on inter-agency working groups, build strong networks within the social sector, and contribute to transformative outcomes for New Zealanders.

What you'll do:

• Lead complex policy projects, including defining the issues, managing, and conducting in-depth analysis
• Lead or contribute to cross-sector work, articulating the Ministry’s position and strategy with clarity and influence
• Anticipate the needs of Ministers and Senior Officials, delivering high-quality policy products within tight timeframes
• Demonstrate flexibility across the wider branch work programme, in consultation with your Manager, to meet Ministry priorities
• Build team capability by peer reviewing policy work and mentoring policy analysts, enhancing their skills, knowledge, and professional development

What you bring:

• Understanding of Cabinet and Parliamentary processes relevant to policy-making
• Ability to monitor and assess policies in alignment with government priorities
• Expertise in using a range of analytical frameworks to identify practical, fit-for-purpose options
• Proven experience in building collaborative relationships with both internal and external stakeholders
• Strong understanding of policy implementation and the issues that may impact service delivery
