We have an exciting opportunity for a Policy Advisor to join a respected economic organisation in Wellington on a fixed-term basis, until October 2025. What you'll do:
As a Policy Advisor, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the direction of policy initiatives within the sector. Your day-to-day activities will involve conducting detailed research, drafting high-quality policy documents, and analysing submissions from various stakeholders. By providing expert advice on regulatory matters and supporting the implementation of new initiatives, you will help drive positive change within the industry. Your ability to build relationships with both internal teams and external partners will be essential in fostering an environment of open communication and shared understanding. Success in this role will require you to stay abreast of legislative developments, contribute thoughtfully to project teams tackling complex issues, and maintain meticulous documentation throughout all stages of policy formulation.
- Conduct thorough research and analysis to inform the development of robust policies that align with organisational objectives and industry standards.
- Draft clear, concise policy documents and submissions that effectively communicate complex regulatory issues to both internal stakeholders and external partners.
- Review and analyse submissions from industry participants, identifying key themes, potential impacts, and areas for further consideration or improvement.
- Provide expert advice on regulatory compliance matters, drawing upon your understanding of distributor operations such as business analysis, connections, or planning.
- Support the implementation of new policies by preparing guidance materials, delivering presentations, and responding to queries from stakeholders.
- Monitor changes in legislation or industry best practices to ensure all policy recommendations remain current and relevant.
- Contribute to project teams tasked with addressing emerging challenges or opportunities.
- Build strong relationships with external partners, including regulators and industry bodies, to facilitate effective information exchange and collaboration.
- Maintain accurate records of policy development processes, ensuring transparency and accountability throughout each stage.
