Pacific Trade Invest (PTI) are the Pacific’s lead trade and investment promotion agency, tasked to encourage trade and investment between the economies of the Pacific Island Countries and New Zealand. PTI work with export capable businesses across the Pacific Island countries to grow their exports of goods and services with the New Zealand market and facilitate investment between New Zealand and the Pacific Island Countries.

PTI are seeking a Strategic Projects Lead to join their dynamic team. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the growth and development of Pacific Island Countries' economies. This is a varied role where no two days are the same and requires strategic thinking, meticulous attention to detail and exceptional written skills.

What you'll do:

As a Strategic Projects Lead, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of our client's operations. Reporting to the Trade Commissioner, you will be entrusted with the responsibility of managing business risk assessments, executing special projects, and overseeing the Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning Workplan. Your ability to write comprehensive progress reports will be crucial in communicating the organisation's achievements and challenges. Additionally, your expertise in reviewing contracts and ensuring IT projects meet standards will contribute significantly to operational efficiency.

  • Undertake business risk assessments on a quarterly basis, identifying risks and forming contingency plans
  • Execute special projects including the administration and management of small grant funds
  • Manage the Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning Workplan
  • Write progress reports and produce quarterly reports tracking on MERL workplan
  • Review supplier contracts and insurance policies to determine medium to long term cost efficiencies
  • Liaise with team members, suppliers, and management to ensure IT projects are completed to standard


What you bring:

The ideal candidate brings a wealth of experience in international development or a related field. With up to 10 years' experience under your belt, you have honed your skills in monitoring, evaluation and learning practices. Your proven track record in risk management demonstrates your ability to navigate complex operational landscapes. Exceptional writing skills are essential for this role as you'll be tasked with producing detailed reports. Familiarity with donor reporting requirements and experience working with customer relationship management tools will be advantageous. A postgraduate degree in a relevant field such as international development, public policy, economics or project management would also be highly regarded.
