ICIB Brokerweb, an established, innovative company with ambitious growth plans have exclusively partnered with Robert Walters in their search for an experienced Senior Commercial Broker to join their Christchurch based team. This role offers the opportunity to manage an established portfolio of commercial clients, providing tailored insurance solutions that meet their unique needs. The successful candidate will have a deep understanding of the commercial insurance market, strong negotiation skills, and a proven track record of building and maintaining relationships with commercial clients. What you'll do:
As a Senior Commercial Broker at ICIB Brokerweb, your day-to-day responsibilities will include managing an established portfolio of commercial clients, understanding their unique insurance needs, and providing them with tailored solutions. You will conduct comprehensive risk assessments, negotiate favourable policy terms with underwriters, and stay abreast of industry trends to provide proactive advice. Your excellent communication skills will be key in presenting insurance proposals and addressing client inquiries. You will also positively contribute to the supportive team environment, where you will share your expertise and mentor others around you.

  • Actively manage and grow a well-established portfolio of commercial clients, assessing their insurance needs and developing tailored insurance programs.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with existing clients and develop strategies to maximise opportunities with clients.
  • Conduct comprehensive risk assessments for clients, identifying potential risks and recommending appropriate coverage options.
  • Collaborate with underwriters to negotiate favourable terms and conditions for insurance policies.
  • Stay updated on industry trends, changes in regulations, and emerging risks, providing proactive advice to clients.
  • Prepare and present insurance proposals to clients, effectively communicating the benefits and coverage details.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to ensure accurate processing of policies, claims, and other related documentation.
  • Maintain accurate client records in accordance with company policies and regulatory requirements.

What you bring:
You will have a proven track record of managing a portfolio of commercial clients and providing exceptional customer service. Your strong negotiation skills will be key in securing favourable policy terms, while your deep understanding of industry regulations and trends will ensure you provide proactive advice to clients. Your excellent communication skills will enable you to effectively convey complex insurance concepts, while your analytical abilities will aid in risk assessment and solution development.

  • Hold a FS Level 5 qualification.
  • 10 + years of experience in a similar Commercial Broker role.
  • Strong knowledge of commercial insurance products, underwriting principles, and risk management practices.
  • Proven track record of successfully managing a large portfolio of commercial clients.
  • Excellent negotiation skills with the ability to secure favourable terms for insurance policies.
  • Exceptional customer service skills with the ability to build and maintain strong client relationships.
  • In-depth understanding of industry regulations, compliance standards, and emerging market trends.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in using insurance brokerage software and CRM systems.
