Regulatory Assurance Manager
A leading financial institution in Auckland is seeking a Regulatory Assurance Manager to join their Compliance Department. What you'll do:
As Regulatory Assurance Manager, you will play an essential part in upholding the highest standards of compliance across all facets of banking operations. Your day-to-day responsibilities will involve:
- Support the implementation of the Compliance and Risk Management Framework by developing strategies, standards, processes, and tools that facilitate effective identification, measurement, management, monitoring, and reporting of compliance risks throughout the organisation.
- Manage material regulatory risk exposures and activities within the bank in accordance with established risk appetite, frameworks, policies, procedures, and controls to ensure ongoing compliance.
- Assist in designing, documenting, implementing, and maintaining business processes, procedures, systems, and tools that guarantee employees adhere to both internal policies and external regulations.
- Provide comprehensive guidance, advice, and support on regulatory risk matters to various business units as well as support functions across the organisation.
- Identify all applicable regulatory obligations for the bank; review new requirements or changes to existing legislation; implement necessary adjustments to maintain full compliance.
- Coordinate climate risk disclosure assurance activities by collaborating with relevant stakeholders to ensure accurate reporting and adherence to evolving standards.
- Capture and maintain regulatory risk obligations within the central risk repository while supporting internal owners in defining appropriate processes for sustained compliance within their respective business units.
- Conduct periodic reviews based on risk priorities to test business owner's compliance with obligations; report findings; recommend resolutions; perform follow-up reviews to confirm corrective actions have been implemented effectively.
- Prepare detailed reports on quality/control assurance review results; discuss outcomes with process owners; notify management of any adverse findings promptly.
- Review business unit Risk Control Self Assessments (RCSAs) regularly to ensure they are effective in managing regulatory risks pertinent to each area of operation.
What you bring:
- Experience in banking regulations.
- Excellent knowledge of banking products and services.
- Ability to interpret and articulate complex materials and communicate to staff, Management and Board in simple plain, easy to understand terms.
- Excellent time management skills to achieve great results on time and within budget.
- Pro-active, solution driven and with an ability to work as equally well either on your own or within a team environment.
- Skilled communicator with the ability to influence and motivate others.
- Excellent communication skills (verbally and writing) with interpersonal relationship skills.
- Ability to act with integrity and professionalism and apply a ‘do the right thing’ attitude.
- Ability to use your influencing skills to achieve the right outcomes.
- University graduate or equivalent.
- 3 year plus post legal qualification is preferred.
- Has eligibility to work in New Zealand.
