Senior Commercial Broker - Christchurch

As a Senior Commercial Broker, your day-to-day responsibilities will include managing an established portfolio of commercial clients, understanding their unique insurance needs, and providing them with tailored solutions. You will conduct comprehensive risk assessments, negotiate favourable policy terms with underwriters, and stay abreast of industry trends to provide proactive advice. Your excellent communication skills will be key in presenting insurance proposals and addressing client inquiries. You will also positively contribute to the supportive team environment, where you will share your expertise and mentor others around you.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Actively manage and grow a well-established portfolio of commercial clients, assessing their insurance needs and developing tailored insurance programs.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with existing clients and develop strategies to maximise opportunities with clients.
  • Conduct comprehensive risk assessments for clients, identifying potential risks and recommending appropriate coverage options.
  • Collaborate with underwriters to negotiate favourable terms and conditions for insurance policies.
  • Stay updated on industry trends, changes in regulations, and emerging risks, providing proactive advice to clients.
  • Prepare and present insurance proposals to clients, effectively communicating the benefits and coverage details.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to ensure accurate processing of policies, claims, and other related documentation.
  • Maintain accurate client records in accordance with company policies and regulatory requirements.

Key requirements:

  • Hold a FS Level 5 qualification.
  • 10-15+ years of experience in a similar Commercial Broker role.
  • Strong knowledge of commercial insurance products, underwriting principles, and risk management practices.
  • Proven track record of successfully managing a large portfolio of commercial clients.
  • Excellent negotiation skills with the ability to secure favourable terms for insurance policies.
  • Exceptional customer service skills with the ability to build and maintain strong client relationships.
  • In-depth understanding of industry regulations, compliance standards, and emerging market trends.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in using insurance brokerage software and CRM systems.
