Lead the next chapter for Taranaki

Taranaki Regional Council is seeking a Chief Executive to build on the strong foundations already in place and help shape the future of one of New Zealand's most distinctive regions.

Reporting to the elected Council, you will lead a capable and high-performing organisation that plays a critical role in the environmental, economic and community wellbeing of the Taranaki region. Working at the intersection of governance, community, iwi and central government, you will provide strategic leadership while ensuring the Council continues to deliver excellent outcomes for the communities it serves.

This is a highly visible role requiring sound judgement, political acumen and the ability to build trusted relationships across a diverse stakeholder landscape. You will work closely with elected members, iwi, government agencies, industry groups and community leaders, helping position both the Council and the region for the future.

You will bring:

  • Proven executive leadership experience in a comparably complex organisation with Local Government experience being highly valued.
  • Strong experience working with boards, governance groups, elected representatives and/or senior stakeholders.
  • Outstanding relationship-building skills, with the ability to establish credibility across diverse stakeholder groups.

  • Strong strategic and commercial acumen coupled with the ability to translate strategy into outcomes.
