What you'll do:
As a Solution Architect based in Wellington, you will play a pivotal role in designing solutions that deliver tangible business outcomes while ensuring alignment with enterprise architecture frameworks. Your day-to-day responsibilities will involve collaborating across teams to drive strategic initiatives forward, supporting diversity and inclusion efforts throughout the organisation, maintaining high standards in solution design quality, advising on IT investments, presenting your ideas for approval in key forums, and contributing to process improvements. Success in this role requires you to operate with integrity and empathy—always keeping people front-and-centre—while proactively managing risks related to health and safety. You’ll also be expected to nurture external relationships when necessary and participate in ongoing conversations about how best to improve practices within the organisation. Your ability to translate technical concepts into business-relevant language will be crucial as you help shape both immediate project outcomes and long-term organisational strategy.
What you bring:
To excel as a Solution Architect in this Wellington-based role, you will bring substantial experience gained from working on complex architecture modelling projects. Your background should include guiding teams through technology standards adoption—especially around cloud services—and implementing robust security architectures. You’ll have demonstrated your ability to design data-driven solutions that comply with industry regulations while showing enthusiasm for emerging technologies like AI. Your interpersonal skills will allow you to build trust among stakeholders from diverse backgrounds; translating technical jargon into clear business concepts is second nature for you. You approach challenges holistically—considering both immediate needs and broader impacts—and apply sound judgement when making recommendations. Familiarity with Te Tiriti o Waitangi principles is essential as these inform many aspects of organisational practice. Finally, your eligibility for national security clearance ensures you can operate confidently within sensitive environments.
- Hold a relevant tertiary qualification along with more than five years’ experience in architecture modelling within complex environments.
- Demonstrate proven expertise in coaching technology standards across cloud services such as Azure, Microsoft 365, SaaS platforms.
- Show strong knowledge of security architecture principles including NZISM guidelines for secure solution design.
- Possess hands-on experience designing data solutions that address business needs while maintaining compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Display genuine interest in artificial intelligence technologies as they relate to solution architecture development.
- Manage delivery quality effectively by overseeing solution architecture processes from inception through implementation.
- Exhibit credibility as an influential communicator capable of building dependable relationships across both business and technology stakeholders.
- Translate technical information into accessible concepts for non-technical audiences while navigating ambiguity with sensitivity.
- Apply sound judgement when considering holistic impacts across a broad range of issues affecting organisational operations.
- Demonstrate knowledge of Te Tiriti o Waitangi principles through practical application within professional settings.
- Be eligible to obtain or maintain appropriate levels of New Zealand National Security Clearance as required.
