Insurance Litigator

This is an outstanding opportunity to work alongside respected partners within a market-leading insurance team, acting for insurers, reinsurers, brokers, and corporate clients across a broad range of contentious and advisory insurance matters. You will gain exposure to complex, high-value insurance disputes, coverage issues, policy interpretation matters, professional indemnity claims and liability disputes while receiving structured and top training and development directly from the partners. What you'll do:

• Manage a diverse portfolio of insurance litigation and dispute resolution matters across a range of policy classes and industry sectors.
• Advise insurers and corporate clients on complex coverage disputes including insurance & claims, cyber risks, professional liability and property damage.
• Handle professional indemnity, management liability, and regulatory claims.
• Represent clients in litigation, arbitration, mediation, and other dispute resolution proceedings relating to insurance matters.
• Collaborate closely with partners and colleagues within the Auckland office and across the firm's broader international network.
• Draft pleadings, coverage opinions, legal advice, correspondence, settlement documentation, and court submissions.
• Conduct detailed legal research and analysis to support litigation strategies and provide practical commercial advice.

What you bring:

• LLB qualification with current New Zealand practising certificate or eligibility to hold one is essential for this position.
• 5+ PQE in insurance litigation gained within a reputable law firm.
• Experience advising on insurance coverage, professional indemnity, product liability, or regulatory disputes.
• Experience managing matters and maintaining direct client relationships throughout the dispute resolution process.
• Be motivated by long-term career progression and professional development opportunities.
• Possess excellent written and verbal communication skills, with experience drafting high-quality legal advice and court documents.
• Bring strong research and analytical capabilities to support effective dispute resolution outcomes.
