Accounts Assistant

As an Accounts Assistant, you will play a key role in supporting the financial operations of the business by managing accounts payable and receivable functions, reconciling accounts, and contributing to process improvements. You’ll work closely with the Finance Director and collaborate with the wider team to ensure smooth and efficient business operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage the accounts payable inbox daily and process invoices/credit notes accurately and on time.
  • Reconcile creditor statements monthly and prepare payment runs for approval.
  • Set up and maintain vendor and customer accounts while generating month-end reports.
  • Actively follow up on outstanding debtors, ensuring payments are within 30 days.
  • Allocate cash received to customer accounts promptly and maintain accurate credit limits.
  • Assist with tax filings (GST/FBT/NRWT) and reconcile balance sheet/income statement accounts.
  • Order office supplies regularly and support other finance-related tasks as needed.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • At least 2 years’ experience in accounts payable/receivable functions with accounting knowledge.
  • Solid understanding of accounting practices, procedures, and ERP systems.
  • Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Outlook, and adaptability to new software.
  • Excellent written/verbal communication skills paired with sound numerical and analytical abilities.

  • Exceptional attention to detail, organisational skills, and ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Self-motivated with a positive attitude and commitment to achieving goals under tight deadlines.
