General Manager- Finance
Reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer and working closely with the Board and Finance & Risk Committee, the General Manager – Finance is responsible for leading Cricket Wellington’s financial strategy, performance, governance, and reporting.
The GM Finance role at Cricket Wellington is responsible for leading the organisation’s financial strategy, management, and reporting to ensure long-term sustainability and a high-performing organisation. The role provides strategic financial insight to support decision-making, manages organisational risk, and supports a strong, people-focused culture.
Key responsibilities
Strategic & Financial Leadership
- Lead Cricket Wellington’s financial strategy, planning, and long-term sustainability
- Provide high-quality financial insights and advice to the CEO, Board, and Finance & Risk Committee
- Contribute to organisation-wide strategy, performance, and culture as a senior leader
Financial Planning, Performance & Reporting
- Lead budgeting and regular re-forecasting processes
- Monitor financial performance and provide clear insights on risks and opportunities
- Prepare monthly financial reports with variance analysis and commentary
- Oversee cashflow management and maintain strong financial controls
Audit, Risk & Compliance
- Lead all audit processes across Cricket Wellington and the Basin Reserve Trust
- Ensure compliance with statutory, funding, grant, and reporting requirements
- Maintain robust financial governance and risk management frameworks
Capital & Investment Planning
- Lead capital expenditure planning and oversight
- Develop financial evaluations and business cases for major projects
- Monitor delivery of capital projects against budget and outcomes
Basin Reserve Trust
- Provide budgeting, reporting, and financial oversight for the Basin Reserve Trust
- Support Trustees with clear financial insights and decision-making
About you
You are a trusted, commercially astute finance leader who enjoys working at both strategic and hands-on levels. You bring strong financial discipline, excellent stakeholder engagement skills, and a genuine commitment to building a positive, inclusive organisational culture.
You will bring:
- Chartered Accountant (or equivalent professional qualification) preferred with 5 + years Finance experience
- Demonstrated senior finance leadership experience
- Proven expertise in budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting, and cashflow management
- Experience leading audit processes and managing compliance across one or more entities
- Strong commercial judgement and risk management capability
- Confidence working with financial systems and strong Excel capability
- A collaborative, resilient, and improvement-focused leadership style
