A global Accounting firm is looking for a Manager of Business Advisory to join their growing team. This role is ideal for a technically strong accountant who enjoys working independently on complex client engagements while developing their leadership and people management capabilities. You will be trusted to act as a virtual CFO for some of this firms private sector SME clients.

Key Responsibilities

Business Advisory & Accounting Services

  • Prepare financial statements, income tax returns and supplementary tax filings including GST and FBT
  • Complete bank reconciliations and maintain high-quality working papers
  • Prepare clear, concise file notes and standard client correspondence for review
  • Ensure all work is accurately cross-referenced, reviewed and appropriately filed
  • Apply accounting concepts across a wide range of clients, industries and entity sizes
  • Identify recurring issues, potential risks and opportunities, and recommend practical solutions
  • Understand client businesses, key drivers and engagement objectives
  • Maintain confidentiality and deliver a consistently high standard of client service
  • Liaise professionally with clients, creating a positive and trusted client experience
  • Adhere to firm risk management, ethical standards and quality control procedures

Leadership & Operational Delivery

  • Supervise and review the work of junior team members
  • Manage workflows to meet deadlines and agreed budgets
  • Accurately record time, monitor budgets and assist with fee preparation
  • Provide regular progress updates to Directors and Partners
  • Demonstrate initiative while exercising sound judgement about when to seek support
  • Handle ad-hoc requests efficiently with minimal disruption to wider team priorities

Team & Professional Development

  • Actively participate in training, meetings and professional development activities
  • Build strong working relationships across client and internal teams
  • Maintain a positive, solutions-focused approach and be open to feedback
  • Develop internal networks and awareness of the firm’s broader service offerings

About You

You will bring:

  • CA or CPA qualification (or equivalent)
  • Strong experience in accounts preparation, financial statements and New Zealand tax legislation
  • Background in a professional services or public practice environment
  • Previous people management or supervisory experience
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and related systems
  • A proactive, client-focused mindset with strong communication skills
