Forsyth Barr is seeking an experienced people leader to take on the role of Branch Manager for its Christchurch office. This is a pivotal leadership position where you will be the face of the branch, responsible for driving and executing strategy, empowering your team, and fostering strong relationships with clients and the local community.

What You’ll Do


In this dynamic role, you will lead the Christchurch branch with a focus on both growth and operational excellence.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Providing coaching, development and support to Advisers, Associate Advisers, and Adviser Assistants to empower them to achieve their best.
  • Implementing strategy – executing the local strategy to achieve organisational goals.
  • Building an inclusive, professional, and results-driven culture that supports strong team performance.
  • Developing local relationships and being actively engaged and present with the community, contributing to the growth of the Christchurch office.
  • Supporting recruitment, development, and succession planning to ensure a sustainable pipeline of talent.
  • Supporting operational processes to deliver accuracy, efficiency, and an outstanding client experience.
  • Leading marketing activities, events, and communications that strengthen client relationships and enhance visibility within the community.
  • Upholding high standards of integrity, fairness, and professionalism in all aspects of your work.

What You’ll Bring


You will bring proven leadership experience along with a thoughtful approach to people management and performance.

Key attributes include:

  • A track record as an experienced people leader, ideally within financial services or professional services environments.
  • Strong capability in leading and developing others to reach their full potential.
  • Exceptional emotional intelligence (great EQ) with the ability to build trust, navigate challenges constructively, and inspire confidence across stakeholders.
  • Holding a Level 5 New Zealand Certificate in Financial Services.
  • A sound understanding of regulatory requirements paired with commercial acumen to make informed decisions.
  • Excellent communication skills that resonate across diverse audiences.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to remain effective under pressure while managing competing priorities.
  • A consistent commitment to ethical behaviour and professional standards.
