Join one of New Zealand's most highly regarded Banking and Finance National practices, with options to be based in Wellington or Auckland.
Russell McVeagh is seeking two intermediate or senior lawyers who would like to work on complex, market-leading transactions within a collaborative and high-performing team that are valued as people, not just for the work that they do.
The team advises both borrowers and lenders, including major banks, private equity sponsors, portfolio companies, credit funds, non-bank lenders and large corporate clients, across a diverse range of domestic and cross-border financing matters.
Depending on your background and areas of expertise, your responsibilities could include:
- Advising on corporate finance, complex acquisition and leveraged finance transactions.
- Working across real estate finance, syndicated and club lending, structured finance and debt capital markets matters.
- Advising on all aspects of financial services regulation
- Build trusted relationships with leading New Zealand and international clients.
- Collaborate with some of New Zealand’s most respected Banking & Finance lawyers on innovative, high-profile transactions.
- Continue developing your technical expertise through first-class mentoring, structured professional development and meaningful client responsibility from day one.

To be successful in this role, you will bring:
- An intermediate or senior level of experience in Banking and Finance gained in New Zealand or an overseas jurisdiction.
- Strong technical legal skills combined with sound commercial judgement.
- Experience advising on complex financing transactions and managing client relationships.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- A collaborative approach and genuine enthusiasm for working as part of a leading team.
- A desire to continue developing your career alongside some of New Zealand's most respected lawyers.
