Senior Advisor - Procurement Practices

Save job

NZDF is looking for a Senior Advisor – Procurement Practices to join their Centre of Excellence within Defence Commercial Services. This is a key capability uplift role focused on improving how procurement is done across the organisation.

About the role

You will:

  • Lead the development of procurement tools, templates, and guidance to lift consistency and compliance across NZDF
  • Support the embedding of Government Procurement Rules and NZDF policy into everyday practice
  • Coach and guide teams to improve procurement delivery and decision-making
  • Facilitate workshops and training to uplift capability across the organisation
  • Maintain and improve a suite of procurement process documentation, tools, and frameworks
  • Drive continuous improvement in procurement systems, governance, and practice

About you

We’re looking for someone who:

  • Has strong hands-on procurement experience (including running tenders)
  • Understands what “good procurement practice” looks like and can teach it to others
  • Is confident coaching, challenging, and influencing stakeholders
  • Is highly detail-oriented with strong process and systems thinking
  • Brings a balance of technical procurement capability and strong people skills
  • Enjoys improving how procurement is done, rather than doing delivery procurement day-to-day

About NZDF

This role sits within a national procurement excellence function supporting a large, complex organisation. You’ll play a key role in lifting capability, improving consistency, and shaping procurement practice across NZDF.

If you’re a procurement professional who enjoys improving systems, building capability, and influencing best practice at scale, we’d like to hear from you.
