Senior Procurement and Commercial Specialist

We’re partnering with the New Zealand Defence Force to recruit a Senior Procurement Specialist. This is a high-impact procurement role where your work directly contributes to New Zealand’s defence capability. You’ll operate in a varied, fast-moving environment with genuine purpose and real stakeholder influence. You won’t be siloed—this is broad, dynamic procurement work across some of government’s most critical programmes.

What you’ll do

• Lead end-to-end procurement across complex programmes
• Develop and execute sourcing strategies aligned to NZDF priorities
• Manage supplier relationships and contract performance
• Support through-life sustainment of Defence capability (Air, Land, Maritime)
• Provide trusted commercial advice to stakeholders
• Ensure compliance with Government Rules of Procurement and NZDF frameworks
• Drive continuous improvement in procurement practice

About you

• 5+ years’ procurement experience (public or private sector)
• Experience with complex procurement or contract environments
• Strong stakeholder engagement and influencing skills
• Confident working across the full procurement lifecycle
• Commercially sound with strong problem-solving ability
• Collaborative and adaptable approach

Be a NZ citizen or hold NZ Permanent Residency / Residency Class Visa

Have lived continuously for the last 10 years in NZ, Australia, Canada, UK, or USA
