Senior Procurement and Commercial Specialist (INFOCOM)
We’re partnering with the New Zealand Defence Force to recruit a Senior Procurement and Commercial Specialist within Defence Commercial Services. This is an opportunity to deliver strategic ICT procurement outcomes that directly support NZDF’s capability and transformation agenda.
About the role
Reporting to the Procurement and Commercial Practice Lead – INFOCOM ICT, this is a senior, hands-on procurement role delivering complex end-to-end procurement and commercial activities across the INFOCOM and wider ICT portfolio.
You will support major ICT transformation programmes, strategic sourcing initiatives, supplier engagement, and commercial outcomes that enable NZDF’s operational effectiveness.
In this role, you will:
- Lead complex ICT procurement activities across the full lifecycle (plan, source, manage)
• Develop and deliver sourcing strategies for high-value and high-risk ICT initiatives
• Provide trusted commercial advice to senior stakeholders and programme teams
• Manage tender processes, supplier engagement, evaluation, negotiation, and contract establishment
• Support ICT transformation programmes through effective commercial planning and execution
• Apply strong governance, risk management, and compliance practices
• Build effective relationships with stakeholders, suppliers, and external partners
• Contribute to continuous improvement of procurement frameworks and ways of working
About you
You are an experienced procurement professional who can confidently operate in complex environments and deliver strategic ICT commercial outcomes.
You will bring:
- Significant experience in senior procurement or commercial roles
• Proven experience delivering complex ICT procurement projects
• Strong understanding of ICT supplier markets and commercial frameworks
• Experience leading end-to-end sourcing initiatives
• Knowledge of Government Procurement Rules and public sector procurement practices
• Strong stakeholder engagement, influencing, and communication skills
• Ability to work independently while contributing to a collaborative team environment
• MCIPS or relevant tertiary qualification (preferred)

Higher Level Security Clearance
- You must be a New Zealand citizen, or hold New Zealand Permanent Residence or a current New Zealand Residency Class Visa
• You must have lived continuously for the last ten (10) years in New Zealand, Australia, Canada, the United Kingdom, or the United States of America
• You must have a ten (10) year background history that can be verified and assessed by the New Zealand Security Intelligence Service (NZSIS)
