Regional Assurance Assessor
* 10 week assignment start early October * Some travel required. Flexibility around hours * Christchurch or Dunedin This Government body is seeking a Regional Assurance Assessor to support the delivery of the General Election 2026. A unique opportunity to play a vital role in maintaining public confidence in New Zealand's electoral system, ensuring key election processes are operating effectively, consistently and in accordance with established procedures.
About the Role
As a Regional Assurance Assessor, you'll work independently across your assigned region undertaking quality assurance, compliance and assurance activities during the election period.
This is a highly visible role requiring excellent judgement, professionalism and attention to detail. You'll conduct site visits, observe election processes, identify risks or areas of non-compliance, investigate issues where required and provide clear reporting and recommendations.
Key responsibilities include:
- Conducting quality assurance and compliance checks across election operations
- Visiting voting places and election headquarters to verify adherence to processes and legislation
- Identifying risks, issues and opportunities for improvement
- Preparing clear and accurate assurance reports
- Investigating incidents and escalating issues as required
- Supporting election officials with guidance on quality and compliance matters
- Building effective working relationships across regional teams and stakeholders
About You
You'll be a practical and confident professional who can quickly assess situations, make sound judgements and communicate effectively with a wide range of people.
You may come from a background in:
- Quality Assurance
- Compliance
- Risk & Assurance
- Internal Audit
- Regulatory or Inspection Services
- Operational Quality or Process Improvement
To be successful, you'll bring:
- Experience in quality assurance, compliance, audit, assurance or related functions
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- The ability to work autonomously and manage competing priorities
- Experience investigating issues and producing clear findings
- Sound judgement and a practical approach to risk
- A full New Zealand driver's licence and access to a vehicle
- Flexibility to travel throughout your region and work additional hours during peak election periods
