Risk and Assurance Leader - Contractor

We are seeking an experienced Risk & Assurance professional for a short-term contract assignment with a large and complex New Zealand organisation. This is a hands-on leadership opportunity for a seasoned practitioner who can quickly assess the current environment, establish priorities, and deliver tangible outcomes from day one.

The Opportunity

Reporting to a senior executive and working closely with the Audit & Risk Committee and Executive Leadership Team, you will provide independent leadership across enterprise risk, assurance, internal audit, quality and resilience activities.

Key deliverables will include:

• Assessing the maturity of existing risk, assurance, quality and control frameworks.
• Identifying key gaps and developing a practical, risk-based internal audit and assurance programme.
• Leading and progressing the organisation's Risk Appetite programme.
• Building strong and trusted relationships with senior leaders, executives and governance stakeholders.
• Providing independent, evidence-based advice and constructive challenge on material risks and assurance matters.
• Supporting assurance activities, control assessments, governance reporting and action tracking.
• Coaching and Mentoring

About You

You will be a highly credible risk and assurance leader with a track record of operating at executive and board level. You'll bring a pragmatic approach, excellent stakeholder management skills, and the ability to quickly understand complex environments and drive improvement initiatives.

• Compliance and Control Assessment

• Quality Management and Continuous Improvement
