Senior Risk Business Partner
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior Risk Business Partner to join a leading financial services organisation based in Auckland. This role will see you partnering closely with business leaders to strengthen operational risk practices, provide trusted advice, and support the ongoing uplift of risk maturity across the organisation.
The Senior Risk Business Partner is an excellent opportunity for an experienced risk professional who enjoys building strong stakeholder relationships, influencing outcomes, and working within a collaborative and customer-focused environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Partner with business units and senior stakeholders to embed effective risk management frameworks and practices.
- Provide independent oversight and advice across operational risk activities within your portfolio.
- Support the identification, assessment, management, and mitigation of operational risks in line with organisational risk appetite.
- Maintain and enhance risk registers, ensuring accurate reporting of risks, controls, incidents, and remediation actions.
- Conduct targeted risk reviews and deep-dive assessments, providing practical recommendations for improvement.
- Monitor control effectiveness and support timely remediation of identified gaps or emerging risks.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of risk policies, standards, and procedures.
- Collaborate with wider risk teams to ensure consistency and alignment across the business.
- Support and mentor team members to build overall capability within the function.
Key Requirements
- Minimum eight year's experience in risk management within financial services.
- Strong understanding of operational and compliance risk frameworks.
- Excellent stakeholder management and relationship-building skills, with the ability to influence at senior levels.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including reporting and presenting complex information clearly.
- Proven ability to manage competing priorities and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience analysing data and providing meaningful risk insights to support decision-making.
- Commercially minded with a pragmatic and solutions-focused approach.
- Previous mentoring or coaching experience will be highly regarded.
