Finance Business Partner
A large and complex Government organisation is looking for a Finance Business Partner to support senior leaders within their Property, Procurement and Capability functions.
Reporting to the Manager of Finance Business Partnering, you will provide insightful, forward-looking financial advice and strategic support to portfolio leadership teams. This is more than a numbers role. You’ll play a critical part in influencing decision-making, helping leaders navigate a fast-paced, complex, and high-impact environment. Success in this role requires strong communication skills, sound judgement, and the ability to translate financial data into meaningful insights that drive outcomes.
Key responsibilities
- Develop a deep understanding of Police and portfolio business drivers, identifying cost pressures, risks, and opportunities to provide proactive financial advice.
- Deliver strategic analysis and options to inform, support, and challenge decision-making.
- Provide timely, accurate, and forward-looking financial information to support effective planning, oversight, and risk management.
- Partner with stakeholders to link financial and non-financial data, ensuring clear understanding of business impacts and performance.
- Lead and support budgeting and forecasting processes aligned to strategic business plans.
- Contribute to the development and review of business cases, ensuring robust analysis, realistic resourcing, and adherence to governance requirements.
- Act as a trusted advisor to budget holders, championing a strong customer service focus across Finance.
- Support capability development by mentoring and coaching junior team members where required.
What you’ll bring
- Chartered Accountant (or equivalent) with minimum 3 years post qualified experience
- Proven ability to deliver high-level financial insights and evaluate strategic options while maintaining a pragmatic approach.
- Strong interpersonal skills and high emotional intelligence, with the ability to build effective relationships at all organisational levels (public sector experience advantageous).
- Experience reviewing business cases and working within an investment mgmt environment
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a demonstrated ability to translate complex data into clear, actionable insights.
- Advanced analytical and problem-solving capability, with experience supporting senior-level decision-making.
- A track record of delivering results in complex environments with diverse stakeholder groups.
- A high level of professionalism, with a commitment to continuous learning and development.
