Contract Technical Specialist (Software)

We are seeking a skilled Technical Specialist to join our dynamic technology team on a 1-year contract basis (with the hope of going permanent afterwards). Key Responsibilities

• Apply effective analysis, programming and testing skills to develop robust software systems
• Conduct thorough analysis of project and software requirements within assigned work packages
• Document program requirements, ensuring accessibility and compliance with company standards
• Develop software designs, coding and testing solutions according to project specifications
• Support and promote company coding and design standards across the organisation
• Perform technical tasks including unit testing to maintain quality control standards
• Assist with integration planning and software building definition tasks
• Provide technical guidance and mentoring to junior engineers
• Contribute to project proposals and technical documentation
• Conduct patent searches and identify areas with potential for patent applications

Essential Technical Skills

• Unix and Windows Administration: Strong proficiency in managing and optimising both Unix and Windows environments
• Automation and Scripting: Expertise in simplifying processes and future-proofing technical solutions
• DevOps Tools: Experience with Jenkins or similar DevOps platforms
• SFTP and SSH: Practical experience with secure file transfer protocols
• Cloud Platforms: AWS infrastructure experience to support on-premise to cloud migration
• Collaboration: Strong interpersonal skills for effective cross-functional teamwork

Highly Desirable

• Ansible experience (while not mandatory, highly preferred)
• Banking or Financial Services experience
• 5+ years industry experience
• Agile methodology experience

Qualifications and Experience

• Tertiary qualifications in Computer Science, IT, or Electrical Engineering (Computer Science major)
• Minimum 2-3 years experience in software development
• Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities
• Excellent written and oral communication skills
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively in team environments
• Process management and problem identification skills
